The Iranian foreign minister made the remarks in a phone call to his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein in which he condemned a deadly terrorist attack on the city of Zakho in the northern Kurdistan region of Iraq.
He voiced sympathy with the Iraqi government and nation and the families of the victims of the incident in which a number of civilian people who had come to the region as tourists were killed.
Amirabdollahian also briefed the Iraqi foreign minister on the decisions taken at a summit meeting of the three guarantors of the Astana peace process held in Tehran on Tuesday when all the three presidents attending the event stressed the need for finding peaceful solutions to problems in bordering areas.
The Iraqi foreign minister had earlier said that some 500 to 600 tourists, mainly from Baghdad and southern Iraqi provinces, were present at the scene of the incident, noting that the attack killed 9 civilian people, injuring some 31 others.
